EMT Madrid Press Release

Bia makes charging possible for EMT Madrid, one of the largest electric bus fleets in Europe!

Bia works with EMT Madrid to optimise the charging of one of the largest public eBus fleets in Europe!

Bia is at the forefront of smart charging adoption for electric bus fleets in Europe.

A key customer case study for how charge optimization can yield positive results is EMT Madrid, who in the last two years has implemented 233 chargers with Bia's software to ensure eBus fleet uptime with efficient, cost-effective and clean charging. By 2025 EMT Madrid will have 413 chargers powered by Bia’s smart charging software - one of the most cutting-edge electric bus fleet depots in Europe with 20 MW of power under management.

Bia's optimization engine has helped EMT Madrid reduce peak loads, avoid power penalties, and effectively manage operational costs. Furthermore, Bia’s integration with EMT Madrid's ERP system provides comprehensive reports on energy consumption, charging costs, and emissions - facilitating a cost-effective and reliable operation for their eBus fleet. With Bia smart charging, most of the power penalties (demand charges) have been avoided while maintaining fleet uptime and respecting EMT Madrid’s electrical installation limitations.

Bia's hardware-agnostic software seamlessly integrated the depot’s three different brands of chargers - Jema Energy | Power Conversion Systems, XCHARGE and Power Electronics (both connector and pantograph chargers) and monitors the electrical infrastructure, as well as the onsite solar generation installation. This has provided valuable business intelligence insights and efficient operational tools for fleet & facility managers to make sure eBuses get the right charge without compromising the depot’s electrical infrastructure capacity.

Thank you EMT Madrid for trusting Bia with the optimization of your eBus fleet, we celebrate your commitment to going electric and sustainable!
